Chairman Message
Pakistan has endured unprecedented floods in 2022, which affected over 33 million people and incurred losses of over $ 32 Billion. In contemporary times, global disasters related to both Climate Change & Non Climate factors, have impacted all regions and zones in developed and developing world alike.
Converging engagement of global community on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) is critical, while impacted nations are facing poly disasters that stem after first shock. World needs comprehensive, joint and shared focus to save planet.
Disaster Management in complex environments implies comprehensive response from pre-learning off the authenticated data bases, pre-coordinating provisions for vulnerable area needs gaps & use of multi-sourced technologies to create early warnings and probabilistic estimations.
Pakistan has actively participated in recommendations pursuits for mid-course corrections in global DRR strategies and objectives frameworks of UN agencies, developing partners, monitory financiers and COP events.
Cultural sensitivities, religious practices, area customs and social priorities are critical inputs for DRR. Any tangent effort would be counter-productive.
In such environment, global academia committed in DRR studies, private sector, volunteers, tech warehouses, nations’ responders for search & rescue and lead humanitarian donors need to compliment each other.
I extend solemn invitation to all participants and we would welcome innovative debates on global DRR subjects. Welcome to Pakistan.
